We are working on our spatial awareness and body scheme and image.  The kids had fun making crazy hair while working on strengthening important muscles for speech and pronunciation.

Learning to write

The kids are all very excited to start writing, and we are practicing identifying and writing the letters in our name and other words that begin with the same sounds.  They all wrote a letter to a big friend in Kalapa!

Mountain Warriors!

We discovered a new forest and this little group of climbers scaled up a super steep mountain and explored a new and enchanting forest!!

How does it feel to be you!?

Working on empathy development, we tried on each other’s shoes and completed different physical challenges!  Great way to see how it feels to “walk in someone else’s shoes.”

We are capable!!

Every Monday, we prepare our picnic for our hike.  Not only are we developing crucial motor skills, learning to follow steps and recipes, but also working as a team and community.  Any and all ideas for simple yet fun and delicious picnic recipes welcome!!

Let’s find water adventurers

Today on our Adventure hike, we were in search of water as we dive into our ocean project.  We compared plants and soil and discussed the differences between moist and arid areas.  At the end of our hike we even found a natural humedal!!  We also were working on using kind and gentle hands that the kids did an amazing job helping their friends along the way.

Our Big Buddies

We have started reading buddies every other week and the kids are ecstatic.  We are working on mentoring and community building.  Excited to keep it going!

Building community

We have been working on community over the last month.  Working on relationship building, team-work and community agreements.  This is the base of our semester and each day we become closer as a community.

Listening to nature

Last week we made deeper connections with the living forest.  The kids were so excited and focused listening to the “heart-beat” of the trees.
